Introduction to Bookbinding - at Birmingham Printmakers

Simon Goode is delivering a weekend workshop at Birmingham Printmakers on November 13/14th

Birmingham sights

l have been working on a few images of Birmingham at a much smaller scale (10 x10 cm) than hitherto in an attempt to have appropriate work for small print open exhibitions.
These have all been made on zinc plate and etched in a copper sulphate solution.

This is a take on the variety in the roof line of Paradise Street, with the top of the Orion Building appearing in the background:

A thin section of a view including the relocated Matthew Boulton campus:

A larger panoramic view seen from Moor Street Station which includes older buildings such as the Fox and Grapes pub and Island House with it’s attractive semi circular window design:

This is a view at a point on the Birmingham canal system called the Birmingham Warwick Junction which lies behind Fazeley Street (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birmingham_Canal_Navigations). The great curved wall is a magnificent reminder of once one of the largest canal hauliers Fellows Morton and Clayton http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fellows_Morton_and_Clayton

The same subject at a 10 x 10 cm size

A study of one of the bridges of the Digbeth Branch Canal close to the Aston Science Park:

The same subject made as a drypoint in 2006:

l currently have work in the annual exhibition of the Society of Graphic Fine Art http://www.sgfa.org.uk/
